Earlier this year, you, our readers, voted for the Beijinger’s 2016 Reader Restaurant Awards. Here we take a closer look at the winners that were worthy of your votes in the category of Best Spanish/Tapas.
Migas (pictured at top) won the top prize for its innovative dishes and tapas, good selection of wines, interest-arousing events, and energetic staff. Their three-part brunch (RMB 268) offered in the first half of this year featured numerous pintxos with tasty toppings, as well as trolleys with fish casserole, paella, and grilled meats. Once stuffed, there’s still time to enjoy the rooftop bar before summer slips away.
Moving into runner-ups, Agua and Saffron received nods for Outstanding Spanish menus. Situated nearby Migas in Nali Patio, Agua is popular among our readers for its Spanish and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. After the Michelin starred Chef Jordi Valles Claverol left Beijing last August, business remains strong thanks to it being considered as a “romantic place for dating,” according to many a Dianping reviewer.
Saffron has been around for a good while by this point, making it a sure-fire bet for Catalonian-inspired dishes. The same minds behind Saffron have since gone on to develop multiple other venues, including Saffron To Go, Chi Restaurant, and He Kitchen.
If you’ve been to all of these fine restaurants and are looking for somewhere new to try, you may also enjoy Niajo‘s traditional Valencian paella and tapas, also conveniently located in Nali Patio.
