An estimated 26.4 million Chinese tourists went overseas in the first quarter of this year, up 17 percent from the same period last year, according to the Chinese Tourism Academy. While the level of satisfaction among domestic tourists is the lowest it’s been since 2009 (China’s chronic smog has been cited as one factor), more and more travelers are picking up and skipping across the ocean for holidays.
