If you’re not ready to let go of the weekend by Sunday (February 28), or you love a good gig, get down to School Bar to catch Ember Swift’s gig at 9.30pm. Ember (who just so happens to be a columnist at our sister website beijingkids), was born in Canada but has now called Beijing home for many years and is a prolific artist with a handful of albums released.
Her music style is eclectic, with compositions rooted in folk, jazz, funk, reggae, and of course, good ol’ rock n’ roll. Her songs combine English and Chinese, and as a result her gigs attract a lot of attention from both foreign and local audiences.
To learn more about the artist and listen to some of her music, check out her Douban page or check out a live video for her song “我爱上了你” below:
Entrance is RMB 50, and School Bar will be offering RMB 15 tequila shots during the gig (and throughout the rest of February).
