Asia Times journalist Francesco Sisci, who conducted an hour-long interview with Pope Francis I in January on the Vatican’s hope for relations with China, will speak about the experience and the Vatican’s strategy on Thursday, February 18 at The Bookworm.

Sisci, a Sinologist who has lived in Beijing for over 20 years, will discuss the Vatican’s foreign policy and China’s role in it, along with other recent moves including playing a role in the rapprochement between the United States and Cuba.

The People’s Republic of China and the Vatican do not have diplomatic relations, but have sought to improve their relationship under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

The event begins at 7.30pm. Tickets for the event are available at The Bookworm and online here, at RMB 40 for members and RMB 50 for non-members.
