Updated October 18 8:35pm A notice from our building management said that the outage will affect “the entire Hujialou area.” We will continue to seek a clearer definition of the streets and buildings included.
Good news and bad news for businesses and residents of Hujialou, the East Third Ring Road neighborhood, for Tuesday, October 20: due to upgrading work on the local Internet backbone (yay! Faster Internet, in theory), there will be a scheduled power outage there from 8am until 8pm.
All businesses and residents should be aware that there will be no electricity during that time. We are checking on the exact area specified by the scheduled stoppage, as the official announcement was a bit vague, and we will post a list of major buildings affected by the outage.
Our own fine offices here at True Run Media Towers (aka Fuxing Office Building) along with the neighboring Fuxing International Apartments are definitely affected, so expect to see Beijinger staff roaming around the city on Tuesday.
The Internet upgrade is part of a government order earlier this year to increase Internet speeds. We’re looking forward to speed-testing it on Wednesday.
