Expert Dialogue on Commercial Medical Insurance Strategy in China
12:30 – 4:30 PM,
Wednesday, June 17, 2015
– AmCham China Conference Center
As China Health Reform continues to deepen, medical insurance will play an increasingly important role. This type of healthcare coverage can enhance accessibility and reduce costs.
Currently, the primary medical insurance scheme is the Basic Medical Insurance System, which covers over 95 percent of China’s population and accounts for the majority of healthcare expenditures. However, out-of-pocket expenses still remain high and thus challenge the affordability of care. It is necessary to develop a multi-layer health financing system in China to reduce the burden of treatment.
Supplemental to the Basic Medical Insurance System, Commercial Medical Insurance is a key piece in relieving capacity constraints on China’s healthcare service and meeting the country’s fast growing healthcare needs, while alleviating the rising burden on the Basic Medical Insurance System.
As we are entering the next Five-Year Plan period, we look forward to new policies and strategies that will boost the continuous growth of Commercial Medical Insurance in China. The AmCham China Healthcare Forum, Insurance Forum and US-China Healthcare Cooperation Program are honored to host experts from the industry and various government agencies to share their views with the following objectives:
• Help the healthcare and related industries to better understand the Chinese government’s strategies in promoting the Commercial Medical Insurance
• Exchange thinking and share experiences on current challenges and issues faced by government and industry
• Formulate industry recommendations on possible health financing solutions
AmCham China welcomes you to engage in this dialogue and share your perspectives.
