October 18 will be an unlucky night for some unfortunate souls in Beijing. A nefarious fate will descend upon a wedding party, and a dining audience, and take from these happy occasions but one, most precious thing.

A life.

Intercontinental Beijing Financial Street and Crowne Plaza Beijing International Airport have both chosen the night of the 18th to showcase an exciting dinner and show combination; a theatrical murder mystery that unravels over the course of the evening showing the intricate plotting and backstabbing nature of humanity in a furore of comedy, drama, and more than a few surprise twists and turns. Here’s what to expect from each:

The Wedding: A 1920s Murder Mystery will whisk people back to early Britain, where Lord and Lady Chester are hosting a delightful wedding unifying Lady Charlotte Wellesley to the wealthy stockbroker, Mr Arthur Bryant. However, someone in the party company is just dying to share their horrid secret with the group …

Murder at Casino Fatale, the first time this brand has been introduced to Beijing, is a high-paced mystery thriller where audiences will be at the edge of their seats in attempts to keep up with characters who try to out-wit, out-play, and ultimately out-live each other.

In what is bound to feel like a night where Beijing becomes its own version of Cluedo, the thrill of the chase is guaranteed to leave some walking out and wondering whether it was the candlestick, the knife, or the jianbing that did it.
