We’ve been around town visiting a fair few new joints this week, including Minoodle, Bao House, and Flash Burritos and Tacos.
Don’t forget that Restaurant Week is coming up from September 4-14. Citibank credit card holders can start making reservations as early as this Thursday, while public bookings go live on August 26.
Look for the latest venture from Groupe Flo, Cafe Flo, to open in Parkview Green around the end of September. Cafe Flo will offer a simplified, pared-down version of the usual menu at Brasserie Flo, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner specials. More on this as we get it, although if the food is anywhere near as good looking as the picture they sent us above, then start getting excited.
A few picks for events and promotions this week:
- Beijing LGBT Center will hold its first “Dining Out for the Center” event at the new Moka Bros in Solana on Thursday August 21. Admission is free and there will be dinner and drink specials for all attendees. 20 percent of the proceeds from the event will go to the Beijing LGBT Center.
- Restaurant Awards favorite Temple Restaurant is welcoming guest chef James Knappett (pictured above) of London’s Kitchen Table and Bubbledogs restaurants. He will be serving a five-course lunch on Friday August 22, followed by a dinner on Saturday August 23. See event listing for pricing.
- For Beijing Design Week this year, Re-Up is launching a Cheng Liang (乘凉), a series of public facilities designed to cater to the local community. To help fund the project, they are holding two hutong dinners catered by Chef Pol Anter on Thursday August 21 and Friday August 22. The six course Catalan-fusion fine dining menu, which costs RMB 380 per person, will be paired with wines from Pares Balta organic winery.
