I’ll admit that as a Gulou dweller I don’t get down to Shuangjing much, but by the look of these events coming up from Plan B maybe I should rethink my location-based prejudice.

Saturday, July 26 – Summer Barbecue
The weather looks to be perfect for a barbecue this Saturday (although my English pessimism says never trust the weatherman). RMB 200 gets you all the lamb chops, barbecue chicken, ribs and potato salad you can eat, plus Tiger Beer, cocktails and soft drinks. The barbecue runs 4-7pm.

Saturday, August 2 – First Annual Beijing Hot Dog Eating Competition and Stassen Cider Day
If the blog picture above got you excited, then this could be the event for you: Plan B and VDG are hosting Beijing’s first annual hot dog eating contest. Registration starts at 4pm, so get there early to claim your spot among the ten participants. VDG will be on hand with deals on four flavors of Stassen Cider (apple, pear, rose, and elderberry-lime).

Saturday, August 16 – Lamb Roast
Finally, and I personally am very excited about this one, on August 16 Plan B is building a giant open air spit to roast two whole lambs in the beer garden behind Pingod. Tickets are limited to 100 people (so get in there early) and cost RMB 200, which gets you some of that spit-roast lamb, barbecue ribs, potato salad, and all the Tiger beer and sangria you can drink.
