While China may have missed out on securing participation in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, they’ve landed a much more prestigious position, one that leaves the fate of the cup final in their palm … err … paws. Scene Asia has said that a panda from Sichuan will become the fortune teller the world looks to. How this propitious panda will determine the winner is still undecided, but it looks as though it will be either a tree-climbing or food-selecting method reminiscent of Paul the Octopus, Citta the Elephant or Datou the Octopus/Wonder Dog‘s approaches.
