The Beijinger 2014 Reader Bar and Club Awards may be over, but that means you maybe have some catching up to. Check out the list of winners to find out which bars have slipped under your radar before nailing down that perfect place to hang this weekend, or check out these cool things to do and drink:
- If you happen to be down in Chongwenmen, this slick bar just opened in the New World Beijing Hotel. Stop there on Thursdays for a special deal for gentlemen: single malt whiskeys and Cuban cigars half off. If you were at their rooftop opening party last Thursday, find yourself in these party photos.
- Cool down with Dave Bob Gaspar’s Strawberry Shandy (or another one of his latest alcoholic innovations). Gaspar won Personality of the Year at the 2014 Reader Bar and Club Awards, with Badr Benjelloun of Cu Ju and Carl Setzer of Great Leap Brewing taking Outstanding awards.
- Experience Beijing’s first-ever 3D party, Drive-in Delirium on Saturday, May 24 for vintage 3D visuals from Tina Sprinkles and VJ Scarlett from Shanghai’s Redscale Studios, along with a live set performed by Acid Pony Club. Free 3D glasses for everyone!
- Swing by the Four Seasons Hotel tonight at 6pm to see a spectacular pop up shop by Wuhao. Pay RMB 200 and enjoy all you can drink cocktails created with inspiration from the five elements (earth, fire, metal, wood, and water … especially water).
- Peninsula Hotel’s Yun Bar, a terrace located on the 14th floor with a sweeping view of Wangfujing and the tip of the Forbidden City, is officially opening tonight. Try their Guilin Breeze (RMB 80), for a peachy relief.
- Trek out to 2 Kolegas for their Ninth Anniversary Party with DJs Master Ray and Mickey Zhang, rockabilly, chuan’r and clay oven pizza.
- To heat things back up: Hear what happens when Bok Bok hits the bass button tonight at Dada.
