The LMT Connection have been making their way to Beijing for the past couple of years providing some much needed funky sustenance to music lovers with each visit. These guys are true masters of their craft, having throughout their years in the music business played 5,000 gigs of slick tunes around the world.

They will be playing two gigs in the city, the first at DDC on May 6 (we hope) for the plebs, then May 7 at East Hotel’s Xian Bar for the upper crust. While they do have qualities that put them in that despised category of hotel band in residence as they do play cover songs. But these songs will mercifully be really choice tracks done to the best of any band, dead or living’s ability. Not many hotel bands fit into this category of soulful expertise.

We saw them last year at DDC, and they blew us away with their sharp chops and endearing stage presence that is only crafted from years of collective experience. Far from being a sad and worn out act like Uncle Phill’s Rock N Roll Review at the Ramada Inn. LMT are the complete opposite, energetic and at the height of their game.

The group is fronted by the seventy-year-old Leroy Emmanuel, who was a very active member of the Motown scene when it was at its pinnacle in the 60s and 70s, and has added support to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Bohannon, and Bettye Lavette. That’s a pretty legendary resumé. Since he joined forces with Mark Rogers and John Irvine, forming the LMT Connection, they have warmed things up for the likes of BB King and Al Green.

We promise that you won’t regret checking this out and that it will definitely inspire you to hit the dance floor with minimal effort. They are seriously just that good. Click here for the details on the EAST performance, and here for DDC.
