Well this is just cheery: Amnesty International has recently completed a global survey analyzing attitudes towards torture in 141 countries, and China is leading the world in approval for cruel and unusual punishment. Globally, an average of 36% of people agreed to the statement that “torture is sometimes necessary and acceptable to gain information that may protect the public,” and China more than doubled that number.
