The Beijing Gender Health Education Institute (also known as BGHEI) has issued a 2016 calendar titled ‘Beyond Gender.’ The aim of the calendar is to fundraiser for their projects. The calendar, coincidentally, also makes for a great Christmas present for your friends, especially those that still need educating.

The institute works to raise awareness and understanding on issues of gender, sexuality and sexual health, and to promote and advocate gender and sexual diversity and equality within Chinese society. That’s a whole lot. They are the organization behind amazing events and initiatives such as the annual China AIDS Walk, and the LGBT Webcast Queer Comrades, and the China Rainbow Media Awards which recognizes journalists working in the Chinese media and their reporting on LGBT issues.

The calendar displays models dressed both according to their gender stereotypes, and the other way, demanding attention for the word ‘gender,’ a word permeating everyday life from the moment we are born, shaping our behavior along the way. It features fellow Beijingers, for example, Marlon Ma, the MC at the Beijinger 2015 Bar and Club Awards.
