Yangmei, plum, osmanthus and sticky rice–four fun boozy flavors that the guys from Chengdu Food Tours in Sichuan are shipping all over China. I’ve twice ordered their Sichuan “charcuterie” package–which has one of the baijiu infusions, bayberry, plus snacks like “strange flavor”peanuts, hence the title of this article.
The newest package is all booze. You get four infusions — 285 ml each — for rmb108 in Chengdu and area, and rmb148 beyond. (The charcuterie set was rmb120 last time I bought it.)
The bayberry is fruity, clean and refreshing; sweet but not cloying; and at about 25% alcohol, thus lighter than most baijius out there but capable of packing a delicious fruit-powered punch. Check ’em out.
