A massive swath of blue-green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, was seen yesterday in Kunming’s Dian Lake. Covering the west side of a river bank near Haigeng Park, the infestation appeared to have dyed the water a vivid, almost beautiful, shade of green. The algae bloom proved to be toxic to fish, as some were photographed floating dead in the water’s surface.
