A Beijing Subway commute isn't always comfortable, but one straphanger claims he was hurt badly during one particular ride.

The man, identified only by his surname Shao, claims that while being crammed onto a subway car on October 31, 2014, he suddenly felt a sharp pain, which was later diagnosed as a leg fracture and ligament damage, the Global Times reported.

Shao's story is at least backed up by surveillance footage of other passengers helping to remove him from the train.

The man is seeking over RMB 54,000 in damages for medical costs and lost wages. Before your next ride on the Beijing Subway, please consider wearing proper protection.
