China Reform Series: The Road to Rebalancing – Progress or Paralysis?

12:00 – 2:00 PM,
Tuesday, May 19, 2015

– AmCham China Conference Room

Since the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Party Congress in November 2013, when the new Chinese leadership laid out its vision for reform and rebalancing of the Chinese economy, discussion and debate around the policy outlook in China has intensified significantly. Opinions on the likelihood of emerging reforms are constantly fluctuating, making the issue more polarizing with each day that passes. Optimists view political restructuring and the ongoing anti-corruption campaign as a spark for accelerating reform efforts, while pessimists point to a lack of meaningful progress thus far as an indicator of continued plodding implementation, especially in a decelerating growth environment.

See which category prominent China thought leaders fall into at this dynamic discussion on reform. Featured speakers will include: Bill Bishop of Sinocism, Ran Tao of the Hanqing School of Economics, Andrew Polk of the Conference Board and Andrew Baston of Gavekal Dragonomics. The panelists will lay out the key elements of the programs, find where true progress has been made and consider what is next and what, if any, productivity gains are on the horizon.

This event is the first of the new China Reform Series, which brings together AmCham China members on a quarterly basis for panel discussions on the reform process.
