The M’s have it: Beijing bars Mas and Migas lead this year’s nominations in the Beijinger’s 2015 Reader Bar and Club Awards, with 10 and 9 nominations, respectively.

Over 100 bars in Beijing received nominations in our annual comprehensive survey of the Beijing drinking scene, which launches today. Nominees were selected by a panel of over 100 Beijing residents from all walks of life; between seven and ten nominees were selected for each category.

Other mutliple nominees include Great Leap Brewing (in all its incarnations) with 8 nods, while Dada, Janes & Hooch and The Local received 7 each.

Voting is live now, and although posters and coasters around town will tell you voting closes May 10, we’re keeping the ballots open a few days extra because we got a late start due to technical snafus.

New categories this year include Best Cover Band (with such notables as the Beijing Beatles, Bye Bye Kitty and Tavey Lean and the Solid Gold Dream Machine vying for the title) and Best LGBT Friendly bar (which Funky, Mesh. Destination and Parlor, among others, competing in the category).

And in a nod to the rising tide of locally-made brews, we have two craft beer categories this year: both Best Craft Brewery as well as a special award for the Best individual brew. Nominees in the latter include Jing A’s Flying Fist IPA, Great Leap’s Honey Ma, Slow Boat Brewery’s Monkey Fist IPA and NB Beer’s Honey Wheat, to name just a few.

We’re also asking you to vote on the Most Creative Bar Concept in Beijing, which includes baijiu bar Capital Spirits, fixie biker bar Trouble Bar, art gallery/bar Aotu Studio and the drink-and-shoot Jian Archery Club.
