We reported earlier that Shanghai was going nuts about China’s first Monet exhibition: 7,000 visitors turned up on opening weekend and, according to reports, hawkers were scalping tickets just to get in the door.

But this local showing by the late French impressionist master has also got some of Shanghai’s artists inspired. On Thursday, our favorite painting studio / wine bar Sip’n’Paint will be offering a Monet-style painting tutorial for just RMB160 (classes are usually RMB220). Neither materials nor talent is required.

The studio will provide the canvas and paints, as well as a professional instructor to provide step-by-step instruction as you create your own Monet-style version of the Pudong skyline. If you can’t make the kick-off session from 7-10pm, similar workshops will take place on Apr. 6, 13, 19, 20 and 27.

Did you get to the Monet exhibition yet? What did you think?
