Program Overview:
This program equips the participants with skills and style to clearly state their opinions and feelings as well as advocate their needs in workplace. Participants will learn how to overcome barriers that cause conflict and misunderstanding without being passive and aggressive. Assertiveness is a right and is the balance between expressing what you think and what you feel in an appropriate manner. Learning how to behave and communicate assertively will enhance one’s effectiveness and efficiency in the workplace, especially for those who have an indirect communication style. There will be role-playing and other ways for participants to practice being assertive during the program.
What participants will learn:
• Understand communication process in the workplace
• Understand one’s own communication style
• Overcome being in silent or violent modes of communication
• Avoid being overly passive or overly aggressive
• Understand what is assertiveness and why it’s important in the workplace
• Learn and practice different tools for being assertive
• Learn to say “no” gracefully
• Build confidence in interpersonal interaction and communication
Who should attend?
Anyone who needs to interact with many people to get her/his work done, those who work in a matrix organization, etc.
Meet the trainer:
Donny Huang is the founder and managing partner of 4stones Cross-Cultural Consulting Group. He helps both international executives/managers and Chinese national executives/managers develop global leadership and cross-cultural competence. He has consulted large multinational corporations such as Singapore Airlines, Nike, Motorola, the World Bank, UBS, Royal Bank of Scotland, Areva, Agilent, Telkom Indonesia, among others. He holds an MBA in International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management, and did graduate work on cultures and leadership at the East-West Center in Hawaii.
Coffee, lunch and light refreshments will be provided during breaks.
