There is so much nightlife in this city! We’re tired. In a good way. But no time to rest: The 2014 City Weekend Readers’ Choice Awards are nearly upon us (check out last year’s winners), and we’ll need your input choosing nominees. So, watch our website like a hawk for updates, and tell us where and why you love going out in this city.

Bars are bringing their best new game for springtime: Taphouse is set to open its second location in April on Taixing Lu and Wujiang Lu; it will have an outdoor balcony. The city’s newest LBGT dance spot is Icon, located by Shanghai Stadium, and it threw a bumping grand opening last weekend.

No. 88 had its final last call at the end of February, to our despair. We miss it already, but we’re itching to know what the owners of MYST and the 7th Floor, who bought the shuttered Chinese club, will open in the space in June.

British-Cantonese fine dining joint Hakkasan opens on the 5th floor of Bund 18 on March 28, complete with a bar menu of original drinks; their brand of cocktail is Asian upscale.

On the concert front, the city’s next major headliners are very large and very poppy: Bruno Mars will perform at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on April 3, and Lionel Richie will sing there April 8 (you might have caught one of the hilarious ads on your trusty cab TV of him walking on a beach wearing flowing white linens).

The pop wave will continue through the spring, as Taylor Swift comes to the arena at the end of May, during her aptly named Red Tour. So much to look forward to.
