The Chinese photographer Niu Weiyu (1927-) began her career in the 1940s as a photojournalist. Her long series of portraits mingle faithfulness to reality and deep sensitivity, which ultimately enable her to seize the vividness of people, their activities and its significance in reflecting social conditions at that time.
