Hilton is the latest hotel chain to ban the consumption of shark fin in all of its Asian outlets. It's a step in the right direction, but comes a few years after Peninsula, Shangri-La and Fairmont banned shark fin, and it still does not mean that Hilton has banned shark fin in all of its hotels around the world--that, apparently, is still to come. Still, we applaud the move for its recognition of the dire environmental consequences and cruelty of the shark finning industry, and hope more hotels and restaurants in Asia and around the world will follow suit.
