In what was easily the wildest Halloween Beijing has ever seen, one casualty was perhaps its best known annual event, the YEN Halloween Party, organized by electronic music company o2culture, which was shut down by police at about 1:40 am on November 1.
O2culture issued a statement Monday, seeking to explain whathad happened and to make amends with disappointed party-goers:
“Dear friends:
“First of all we would like to personally apologize for the unfortunate closure of our much anticipated YEN Halloween event on October 31.
“As you know, the increased preparations for the impending APEC summit has affected many of us, with unexpected last-minute security restrictions resulting in the closure of many events and venues across Beijing, including ours.
“Though our goal is to entertain, our first priority must be the legal protection of our customers and we apologize if we were unable to make this clear during the course of events.
“Your custom and loyalty is important to us. To that end we will be taking the following actions. Please see details below.” (see the details for refunds here)
O2culture is already dusting itself off and getting ready for its next big annual event: YEN Countdown 2014, set for December 31, 2014.
