The ancient terracotta army in Xi’An, Shaanxi province may be a mindblowing sight to behold in person, but the fact remains that they all happen to be men. New York-based French artist Prune Nourry has recently exhibited her “Terracotta Daughters” show in Mexico City, which aimed to raise issues of gender preferences in China by appropriating the famous Terracotta soldiers to create 108 life-size sculptures of female Terracotta warriors.
