The stress of having to prepare for the insane Gaokao examinations usually keeps students feverishly cooped up in their rooms studying 24/7. But a Chengdu high school hopes to introduce some element of balance in its students academic lives’ by issuing the decree that all students would have to clock up a minimum of 600 whopping kilometres within the three years of their high school programme in order to graduate. Maybe the gaokao sounds less intimidating now?
